Bio

I primarily represent physicians in corporate, business and regulatory matters but my background enables me to provide legal services in other areas, such as trademark and copyright protection. While I’m currently a solo practitioner, I have served as General Counsel for 2 public companies, Dr Pepper Company and Republic Health Corporation. In 2002, I was among the initial 29 Texas lawyers to be Board Certified in Health Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. I have chaired the Corporate Counsel Section of the Dallas Bar Association, its Health Law Section and its Solo and Small Firm Section and have served as President of the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers. My primary focus is business transactions for physicians and healthcare facilities, as well as regulatory issues such as HIPAA and peer review. Clients include an orthopedic surgery group, a multi-specialty clinic, a variety of medical directors and a general hospital and I am a Board Member and Secretary for the North Central Texas Health Facilities Corporation, an issuer of tax-exempt bonds for healthcare facilities.I handle general corporate matters and trademark/copyright issues for a variety of non-healthcare clients such as beverage and food manufacturers and retail stores.I have served as an arbitrator in health reimbursement issues and intellectual property disputes, and as a mediator in peer review disputes. I have also been retained as an expert in physician contracting litigation.
