A competent attorney, but communication could be improved

I hired Mr. Evans to handle a complex business dispute that was heading toward litigation. His general practice expertise and background as a former US Ambassador were certainly evident in his strategic approach; he understood the broader implications of our case immediately. His litigation experience provided a solid foundation, and his analysis of our opponent's likely moves was sharp. However, the experience was not without its frustrations. As a partner with responsibilities in both Atlanta and DC, he was often difficult to reach directly. Responses to emails sometimes took several days, and updates felt reactive rather than proactive. While the outcome of our matter was ultimately satisfactory, the process felt more opaque than I would have preferred. You are getting a capable and well-connected lawyer, but you need to manage expectations regarding his availability and the flow of information.
