Competent on employment law, but communication could improve

I engaged Hilario Jahir Cortés Armijo at Littler Mexico for assistance with a complex employee termination matter for our small business with operations in Monterrey. His recognition in Labor and Employment Law by Best Lawyers was a key factor in our selection, and that expertise was evident in his analysis of the Mexican labor statutes. He provided a thorough assessment of our liabilities and structured a legally sound separation agreement. However, the experience was mixed. While his legal advice was technically correct, there were noticeable delays in email responses, sometimes taking several business days for a follow-up. This created some anxiety during time-sensitive negotiations. Furthermore, his explanations, though accurate, occasionally leaned heavily into legal jargon without sufficient translation into practical business implications. For straightforward compliance questions, he is certainly capable, and his firm's resources are a plus. Yet, for clients who prioritize consistent, proactive communication and desire a more collaborative partnership, there is room for growth. He fulfilled the core legal mandate adequately, but the overall client service experience felt more transactional than anticipated.
