Competent on the legal work, but communication could improve

I hired Forrest Cohrs at Hanszen Laporte to handle a complex property line dispute that was escalating with a commercial neighbor. His background in Litigation - Real Estate and the recognition he's received in that field were the main reasons I chose him. On the legal substance, he was solid. His analysis of the local ordinances and his strategy for the initial filings were thorough and demonstrated his nine years of experience. We achieved a settlement, which was the goal. However, the experience was just adequate in other areas. There were often significant delays in getting responses to emails, and updates felt reactive rather than proactive. At times, I felt I had to push for information on next steps. For straightforward legal matters where you need a capable attorney, Forrest will handle it. Just be prepared to manage your own expectations regarding communication timelines and to be more hands-on in following up than I anticipated.
