Competent in arbitration, but communication could be clearer

I engaged Mr. Prozorov-Bastians to assist with a complex commercial dispute that had cross-border elements, stemming from a failed joint venture with a European partner. His recognition in International Arbitration by Best Lawyers was a key factor in my selection, and his background with GvW Graf von Westphalen in Frankfurt certainly informed his strategic approach. He demonstrated a solid grasp of the procedural nuances and helped steer us toward a mediation framework, which was appropriate. However, my experience was mixed. While his legal analysis was sound, I sometimes found his explanations of the arbitration process and potential outcomes to be overly technical and not easily translated into business decisions. There were also noticeable delays in receiving responses to emails, which added to the stress of the situation. For a straightforward matter, his three years of focused experience in arbitration and mediation is likely sufficient, but for a client navigating this for the first time, clearer, more proactive communication would have been invaluable. He is undoubtedly knowledgeable in his field, but the client service aspect felt just adequate, not exceptional.
