Competent on regulatory matters, but communication was inconsistent

I engaged Felicia Nowels and the team at Akerman LLP for guidance on a complex FDA compliance issue related to importing a medical device component. Her 22 years of experience and recognition in FDA and Administrative Law were evident; she provided a technically sound analysis of the regulatory pathways. However, the experience was mixed. While the final work product was thorough, there were periods of significant delay in receiving updates, and responses to follow-up emails sometimes took longer than expected. For straightforward questions, I occasionally felt I was navigating junior associates more than consulting directly with the recognized expert her profile suggests. She is undoubtedly knowledgeable in international trade and regulatory law, but managing client expectations on timelines and communication could be improved. The outcome was satisfactory, but the process felt less streamlined than anticipated for a firm of this caliber.
