Competent in real estate law, but communication could improve

I hired Evan Pritchard to assist with a complex commercial property purchase in Alexandria that involved several conditional use permits. His background in land use and zoning law, which is noted in his professional recognitions, was clearly evident. He navigated the city's planning department efficiently and his analysis of the title and zoning restrictions was thorough. The transaction closed successfully, which was the primary goal. However, my experience was a mixed bag. While Evan is undoubtedly knowledgeable, there were periods where communication was slower than I would have preferred. Updates often felt reactive rather than proactive, requiring me to follow up for status reports. His billing was accurate, but for the fees involved, I expected a more consistent line of communication. His five years of focused experience in this niche showed in the legal work product, but the client service aspect felt just adequate. For straightforward matters, he is a capable attorney, but if you require frequent hand-holding, you might need to set very clear expectations upfront. The legal outcome was solid, but the overall experience left me feeling that the process could have been smoother.
