Competent real estate attorney, but communication could improve

I hired Evan Berlin to assist with a complex residential property purchase in Sarasota. His knowledge of Florida real estate law is evident, and his background, including recognition by Best Lawyers since 2018, provided initial confidence. He was thorough in reviewing the contract and title work, and his seven years of experience at Berlin Patten Ebling showed in his attention to detail on the closing documents. However, the experience felt somewhat transactional. While he was competent on the legal matters, proactive communication was lacking. There were periods of several days where I had to follow up for updates, and responses, when they came, were sometimes brief. For a high-stakes purchase, I expected a bit more hand-holding and clearer timelines. He successfully navigated the deal to closing, which is the primary goal, but the process felt more efficient than collaborative. He is clearly a knowledgeable attorney in his field, but managing client expectations and communication could be enhanced to match his legal expertise.
