Competent estate planning, but communication could improve

I engaged Eva Kliegman at Cummings & Lockwood to assist with updating my family's estate plan, including a trust and healthcare directives. Her knowledge in the trusts and estates area is evident, and her recognition by Best Lawyers is well-deserved from a technical standpoint. She efficiently navigated the complexities of Connecticut probate law and provided solid, legally sound documents. However, my experience was mixed. While the final work product was thorough, the process felt somewhat impersonal. Response times to emails were occasionally slower than I expected, sometimes taking several business days, which created minor anxiety during the drafting phase. Explanations, while accurate, sometimes leaned heavily into legal jargon without always pausing to ensure I fully grasped the implications. For a straightforward estate plan, she is certainly capable and her eight years of experience showed. Yet, for clients who prioritize frequent touchpoints and proactive, plain-language communication throughout the engagement, there may be a slight disconnect. The service was professionally adequate, but didn't quite meet my hopes for a more collaborative advisor-client dynamic.
