Competent real estate guidance, but communication was inconsistent

I engaged Erin August of Shulman Rogers for assistance with a residential property purchase in the Baltimore area. Her background in real estate law, including her recognition by Best Lawyers, was a primary factor in my choice. She was certainly knowledgeable about the contractual nuances and title review process, which provided a solid foundation for the transaction. However, my experience was mixed. While the legal work on the purchase agreement and contingencies was thorough, there were noticeable delays in receiving responses to emails, sometimes stretching several business days, which added to my stress during critical negotiation periods. Setting expectations around response times and process milestones could be improved. For a straightforward transaction where you need capable legal oversight, Erin is competent. For matters requiring frequent updates or urgent back-and-forth, you may need to be more proactive in managing the communication flow. Her expertise from the University of Baltimore is evident in the work product, but the client service aspect felt just adequate.
