A solid, experienced attorney for complex real estate deals

I engaged Eric Goldberg and his team at Olshan Frome Wolosky to represent our group in the acquisition and financing of a boutique hotel property in Manhattan. There is no question about his deep expertise; his nearly five decades of experience in New York real estate law, particularly in high-stakes hotel transactions, is immediately apparent. His recognition in Best Lawyers and Super Lawyers is well-earned in this regard. The deal was complex, involving multiple stakeholders and a tight closing timeline, and Eric's strategic counsel on the development agreement was invaluable. However, the experience was not without its frustrations. While Eric himself is sharp, much of the day-to-day communication and document drafting was handled by junior associates, with sometimes inconsistent responsiveness. We occasionally experienced longer-than-expected wait times for revisions or answers to procedural questions. For the premium rate, I had anticipated more direct, consistent access. Ultimately, the transaction closed successfully, and the legal work was technically sound. Eric Goldberg is a highly competent attorney for major commercial real estate matters, but be prepared to actively manage the communication flow within his team to ensure your expectations on timeliness are met.
