Competent and knowledgeable, but communication could improve

I engaged Ellen Moskowitz at Proskauer Rose for guidance on a complex regulatory compliance issue for our mid-sized medical practice. Her deep knowledge of health care law, backed by over two decades of experience and her recognition by Best Lawyers, was immediately apparent. She provided a thorough analysis of the Stark Law implications we were facing, and her advice on structuring our physician contracts was technically sound and ultimately effective. However, the experience was not without its frustrations. While the final work product was excellent, there were often significant delays in receiving responses to emails, and updates were not proactively communicated. At times, it felt like we had to follow up repeatedly to get status reports. For straightforward, high-stakes legal analysis, her expertise from Columbia Law School and long tenure is undeniable. Yet, for clients who prioritize consistent, clear communication and a more responsive partnership, the service aspect fell a bit short of expectations, especially given the firm's prestige.
