Adequate representation in a difficult custody modification

I hired Elizabeth Drotning Hartwell at Henson Efron to handle a modification of my parenting time agreement. With her 19 years of experience and recognition in family law, I felt confident in her legal knowledge. The strategy she developed was sound, and the outcome was ultimately acceptable. However, my experience was mixed. While her legal filings were thorough, communication was sometimes a challenge. Responses to emails could take several business days, and I occasionally felt I had to follow up to get updates on my case's status. For a process as stressful as modifying custody, more proactive communication would have been appreciated. Her professionalism during our in-person meetings was never in question, and she clearly knows the Minneapolis family court system. The result was fair, but the journey there felt more reactive than I had hoped given her recognized expertise. She is a competent attorney who achieved the basic goal, though the client experience aspect could be improved.
