Competent on the deal, but communication was inconsistent

Ed Wicks handled the acquisition of a boutique hotel property for our group. His deep knowledge of commercial real estate and the specific nuances of hospitality law, which his recognition in these areas reflects, was evident in the contract drafting and due diligence. He identified several potential zoning and licensing issues we had missed. However, the experience was mixed. While the final outcome was solid, there were periods where responses to emails took several days, leaving us in the dark on minor but time-sensitive points. For a firm of Perkins Coie's stature and with his decades of experience, I expected more proactive updates. He is undoubtedly a skilled attorney who knows his field inside and out, but the client service aspect felt merely adequate for the premium rate.
