Competent in corporate matters, but communication could improve

I engaged E. Jane Butcher of Langford Law to assist with a shareholder dispute that arose in my small business. Her background in Corporate and Commercial Litigation, including the recognition from Best Lawyers, was evident in her strategic approach to the case. She understood the nuances of the conflict and provided sound legal advice grounded in her experience, which I believe was bolstered by her foundational education at the University of Calgary. Ultimately, the matter was resolved satisfactorily. However, my experience was a mixed bag. While her legal acumen was solid, I often found the communication from her office to be less than proactive. There were periods where I had to follow up multiple times for updates, and responses sometimes felt templated rather than personalized to my specific concerns. Wait times for returned calls or emails were occasionally longer than I would have preferred for a matter I considered urgent. She is clearly a knowledgeable attorney in the Nashville general practice scene, but the client service aspect felt just adequate. For straightforward corporate guidance, she is capable, but set clear expectations regarding communication timelines from the outset.
