Douglas S. Skalka graduated from Cornell University in 1982 and received his law degree from Boston University School of Law in 1985, where he was the Editor-in-Chief of the Probate Law Journal. Prior to joining Neubert, Pepe & Monteith in 1995, Attorney Skalka was a partner with the firm of Whitman, Breed, Abbott & Morgan, where he was responsible for the firm's business reorganization practice in its Greenwich, Connecticut office.Attorney Skalka has represented secured and unsecured creditors, debtors, commercial lenders, investors, and Committees in bankruptcy and business reorganization cases in Connecticut and throughout the country. He has experience in all aspects of bankruptcy, commercial finance, and business reorganization matters, including asset-based lending transactions, avoidance actions, and the acquisition of troubled companies and their assets.Attorney Skalka has held a certification in business bankruptcy from the American Board of Certification since 1995. In addition, Attorney Skalka served as the Co-Chairman of the Bankruptcy Committee of the Stamford Regional Bar Association and Chairman of the Bankruptcy Committee for the New Haven County Bar Association. He served as the President of the Connecticut chapter of the Turnaround Management Association (1999-2000) and served as a Contributing Editor to the 1998-1999 treatise on bankruptcy law published by Wiley Publications. Attorney Skalka is admitted to practice in the states of New York and Connecticut. He is an active member of the American Bar Association (Business Law Section), the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Connecticut Bar Association (Commercial Law and Bankruptcy Section), and has lectured extensively on commercial finance, business reorganizations and insolvency issues.
