Competent on patent litigation, but communication could improve

I engaged Douglas Kline at Goodwin to handle a software patent infringement matter. With his 35 years of experience and recognition in patent law and litigation, I was confident in his technical and legal expertise, which was evident in his courtroom strategy. The outcome of our case was ultimately satisfactory. However, the experience was not without its frustrations. Communication was sometimes slow, with responses taking several days, and I occasionally felt I had to follow up to get updates on procedural steps. While his deep knowledge of intellectual property law from Suffolk University is undeniable, the client service aspect felt more transactional than collaborative. He is a capable attorney who knows patent law inside and out, but managing client expectations is an area for improvement.
