I engaged Dmitry Kagan at Perkins Coie to assist with a patent infringement matter for a software component my company developed. His background in Intellectual Property and Patent Law from Fordham was evident, and his recognition in those fields by Best Lawyers gave me confidence in his technical understanding of the issues. He was able to competently analyze the prior art and draft a solid initial response. However, the experience was somewhat mixed. While the legal work was sound, there were periods where communication lagged, making it difficult to get timely updates on case strategy without multiple follow-ups. For straightforward patent analysis, Dmitry is certainly knowledgeable, but managing client expectations and responsiveness felt just adequate.
