Competent and knowledgeable, but communication could improve

I hired Debra Klauber at Haliczer Pettis & Schwamm to handle a personal injury matter after a car accident in Miami. Her background and recognition in plaintiff-side personal injury litigation were clear from the start; she has a solid grasp of Florida law, which gave me confidence. Ultimately, the case settled for a fair amount, and I believe her experience from the University of Florida and years of general practice contributed to that outcome. However, my experience was a mixed bag. While Debra was clearly competent on the legal substance, the day-to-day communication was often slower than I expected. There were periods where I felt out of the loop, waiting for updates on straightforward procedural steps. Responses to emails sometimes took several days, which added to my stress during an already difficult time. She is undoubtedly a skilled attorney who knows her field, as her recognition suggests, but managing client expectations and maintaining consistent contact seemed to be an area for improvement. For someone who needs a steady, reliable legal hand and doesn't mind a less proactive communication style, she could be a good fit.
