Competent and knowledgeable, but communication could improve

I hired Deborah Templeman at Gilchrist Connell in Columbus for a complex dispute involving errors and omissions by a financial advisor. Her background in professional malpractice litigation, underscored by her Lawyer of the Year recognitions, was a primary reason for my choice. In the substantive legal work, Deborah demonstrated clear expertise. Her analysis of the insurance coverage aspects was particularly sharp, and she navigated the procedural complexities with confidence. The outcome of my case was ultimately satisfactory, which I attribute to her solid legal foundation. However, the experience was not without its frustrations. Communication was sometimes inconsistent; there were periods where I had to follow up multiple times for updates, and responses to emails could be delayed. While I never doubted her legal acumen, the client service aspect felt more transactional than collaborative. At times, I felt I had to manage my own expectations regarding timelines and process. For someone with her level of recognition and six years of focused experience in this niche, I expected a slightly more streamlined and communicative client experience. She is undoubtedly a capable attorney who gets results, but the journey there required more proactive effort on my part than I anticipated.
