Competent in mediation, but communication could improve

I hired Deborah Henry at Lashly & Baer to assist with a complex post-divorce modification involving child custody and support. Her recognition in Family Law and Family Law Mediation by Best Lawyers is well-earned; her knowledge of the St. Louis family court system and her skill in navigating mediation sessions were evident and valuable. She helped us reach a settlement without a protracted trial, which I appreciated. However, my experience was a mixed bag. While the legal strategy was sound, communication was sometimes inconsistent. There were periods of several days where I wouldn't receive updates on case developments, and responses to emails could be delayed. At times, I felt I had to follow up repeatedly to get clarity on next steps. The outcome was ultimately fair and met my core objectives, which is why I'm giving this rating. For straightforward legal expertise, Deborah is capable, but if you require frequent, proactive communication, you may need to set very clear expectations from the outset.
