Competent on immigration case, but communication could improve

I hired Davis C. Bae at Fisher Phillips to assist with an L-1A intracompany transfer petition for a key manager at my Seattle-based tech firm. Mr. Bae's background in immigration law and his recognition in that practice area were the primary reasons for our selection. His legal analysis of our case was thorough, and he demonstrated a solid understanding of the complex requirements, drawing on his years of focused experience. The petition was ultimately approved, which was the critical outcome we needed. However, the process felt somewhat transactional. There were periods of several days where our emails went unanswered, requiring follow-up from our team. While his associate was often responsive, we had expected more direct communication from Mr. Bae himself given the seniority suggested by his J.D. graduation year. Additionally, some of the fee estimates for ancillary steps were presented later than I would have preferred for budgeting. He is undoubtedly a knowledgeable attorney in employment-based immigration, and I appreciate the successful result. For straightforward matters, he is a capable choice, but for clients who prioritize consistent, proactive updates and detailed upfront planning, the experience may be just adequate.
