John Parker
I engaged David Griffin of Rutkin, Oldham & Griffin to assist with a complex post-judgment modification involving child support and college expenses. With his 42 years of practice and recognition in family law, including his status as a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, I was confident in his legal acumen. That confidence was largely justified; his understanding of Connecticut family court procedures was evident, and he drafted a thorough and strategically sound petition. However, the experience was not without its frustrations. While Mr. Griffin himself is clearly knowledgeable, there were significant delays in receiving responses to emails, often routed through his paralegal, which created anxiety during time-sensitive phases. His billing was precise, but at times I felt like just another case file. For straightforward legal strategy, he is a solid choice from the Westport bar. Yet, if you value consistent, direct communication and a more hands-on client experience, you may find the service merely adequate, as I did. He executed the legal work competently, but the overall client management aspect fell short of the expertise suggested by his impressive credentials.
