Competent on the legal work, but communication was inconsistent

I hired David Nordlinger at Davis Wright Tremaine to handle a breach of contract dispute for my small business. The core legal work was solid. David clearly knows his way around commercial litigation, and his firm's reputation in Seattle is well-earned. He was able to effectively analyze our contract and draft a strong initial demand letter, which ultimately helped us reach a settlement. I also noted his recognition in Best Lawyers for Commercial Litigation, which gave me confidence in his expertise. However, the experience was not without its frustrations. There were several instances where I had to follow up multiple times to get updates on our case status. Responses to emails could be delayed by several days, which created some anxiety during a stressful period. While the final outcome was acceptable and his legal strategy was sound, the process felt less collaborative than I had hoped. For straightforward commercial matters, David is certainly capable, but managing client expectations and maintaining consistent communication could be improved. The legal result met the baseline, but the overall client experience was just adequate.
