Competent on construction dispute, but communication was inconsistent

I hired David Levy at Gardner Skelton to handle a payment dispute with a subcontractor on a commercial renovation project in Charlotte. His background in construction law was evident, and his recognition by Best Lawyers gave me confidence in his technical knowledge. He understood the contractual nuances quickly and provided a solid legal strategy. The outcome of our negotiation was ultimately satisfactory. However, the experience was mixed. There were periods where responses to emails took several days, and I sometimes felt I had to follow up to get updates on simple matters. For a straightforward case, his four years of experience served well, but the client service aspect felt more like a general practice approach than the specialized, attentive experience I expected given his recognition in the field. He is clearly knowledgeable, especially for someone with his level of experience, but managing client expectations and communication could be improved. I would consider him again for uncomplicated matters, but with adjusted expectations on the front-end regarding timelines for responses.
