Experienced and knowledgeable, but communication could improve

I engaged David Thompson at Dickinson Wright to assist my small medical device company with a complex vendor contract and related compliance review. With his 43 years of experience and his specific recognition in corporate compliance law, I was confident in his technical expertise, and that confidence was largely justified. His analysis of the contractual risks and his understanding of the healthcare regulatory landscape were thorough. He clearly draws on deep transactional and corporate counsel experience, particularly for mid-size businesses like mine. However, the experience was not without its frustrations. There were several instances where responses to time-sensitive emails took longer than promised, which created some internal delays for our team. While his advice was always sound once received, the process sometimes felt less collaborative than I had hoped; I expected more proactive updates as the review progressed. For straightforward, high-stakes legal analysis, David is certainly a competent attorney in Phoenix. You are getting the wisdom of a seasoned practitioner. Just be prepared to manage the communication flow actively and set very clear expectations on timelines from the outset.
