Knowledgeable but communication could be more consistent

David Khorey at Varnum handled a complex non-compete and severance negotiation for me when I left my executive role at a manufacturing firm in Detroit. His deep experience in employment law management, evidenced by his recent Lawyer of the Year recognitions, was immediately apparent. He provided a solid strategy and his 22 years of practice gave me confidence in the legal nuances. However, the experience felt somewhat transactional. While his advice was sound, I sometimes experienced delays in receiving responses to non-urgent emails, which added to my stress during the process. His billing was clear, but the overall communication lacked the proactive updates I expected. For straightforward, high-stakes employment matters, his Vanderbilt-honed expertise is undeniable, but managing client expectations on the service front could be improved.
