Competent on government contracts, but communication was inconsistent

I engaged David Dixon and his team at Pillsbury for a complex issue involving a federal subcontractor dispute and potential termination for default. His deep expertise in government contracts was evident from our first meeting; his background co-leading a nationally ranked practice group, recognized by Law360, provided immediate confidence. The legal strategy he developed was sound and reflected his significant experience in this niche area. However, the execution of the matter was where my experience became mixed. While David himself was sharp when we met, there were often significant delays in receiving updates, and much of the day-to-day communication was handled by junior associates without clear oversight. For the premium rate, I expected more direct and responsive engagement from the named partner. The matter was resolved adequately, but the process felt less streamlined than anticipated. He is undoubtedly knowledgeable, especially for high-stakes government contracts work, but client service and project management could be more consistent.
