Competent but communication could be more consistent

I hired David Burkhouse to handle a severance agreement and potential wrongful termination issue with my former employer in Columbia. His 18 years of experience in labor and employment law were evident; he clearly knew the legal landscape and his recognition by Best Lawyers in this specific field is well-deserved. The strategy he outlined was sound and the outcome was acceptable. However, the process felt a bit impersonal at times. There were periods where communication lagged, requiring follow-up on my part, and some of the finer points of the strategy weren't explained as proactively as I would have liked. For a straightforward matter, he is a capable attorney who gets the job done, but managing client expectations on timelines and updates could be improved.
