Competent and knowledgeable, but communication could improve
I engaged Dan Utt and the team at Keating Muething & Klekamp to assist with a complex commercial real estate acquisition in Columbus. His deep experience, particularly his recognized expertise in real estate law, was immediately apparent. He navigated the zoning intricacies and title issues with the confidence you'd expect from an attorney with his 18-year tenure. The final outcome for our property purchase was solid, and his knowledge of Ohio-specific law was invaluable. However, the experience felt somewhat transactional. While his legal analysis was sharp, there were periods where communication lagged—updates often required a follow-up from me, and response times to emails were sometimes slower than anticipated. For the premium rate, I expected a more proactive partnership. His accolades, like the Lawyer of the Year recognition, are clearly well-earned on the technical front, but the client service aspect felt just adequate. He is undoubtedly a capable attorney who gets the job done, but managing client expectations and maintaining consistent dialogue could be enhanced.
