Competent on energy project, but communication was inconsistent

I engaged Daniel Pope at Bracewell LLP for guidance on a complex land use issue related to a small-scale renewable energy project. His knowledge of Texas environmental and energy regulations was evident, and his background from UT Law and recognition in those fields provided confidence. The legal strategy he developed was sound and ultimately helped us navigate the permitting process. However, the experience was marked by inconsistent communication. There were periods where responses to emails took several days, and updates on case progress felt reactive rather than proactive. While the substantive work was professionally handled and met our core legal needs, the client service aspect felt merely adequate. For straightforward matters requiring his specific expertise, he is a capable attorney, but be prepared to manage expectations around timelines and follow-up.
