Competent on complex securities filing, but communication was inconsistent

Daniel Habif at Barnes & Thornburg assisted my company with a complex securities registration and related tax structuring. His recognized expertise in securities and capital markets law was evident; he navigated the regulatory nuances with confidence. His background in project finance also provided valuable perspective on our capital raise. The legal work product itself was thorough and met our needs. However, the experience was mixed. Response times were sometimes longer than expected, and updates weren't always proactive, which created some anxiety during tight deadlines. For straightforward matters within his recognized areas, like tax implications for our offering, his advice was sound. He is clearly knowledgeable, but the client service aspect felt more transactional than collaborative. He's a capable attorney for the technical work, but managing client expectations could be improved.
