I retained Mr. Quick to represent my small manufacturing company in a complex dispute over a secured equipment financing agreement that defaulted. His deep knowledge of UCC law and commercial litigation was immediately apparent. He is clearly a seasoned professional, and his recognition as 'Lawyer of the Year' in banking and finance litigation is well-earned. The legal strategy he developed was sound, and we achieved a reasonable settlement. However, the experience was not without its frustrations. While his expertise was never in doubt, communication was sometimes inconsistent. There were periods where updates were infrequent, and responses to emails could take several days, which added to our stress during a critical period. His team at Dickinson Wright handled much of the day-to-day, and while competent, we sometimes felt a step removed from the principal. For straightforward, high-stakes commercial matters, his three decades of experience from the University of Michigan Law School onward are a definite asset. Just be prepared to manage expectations around client communication and proactively seek updates.
