A solid, experienced attorney with some communication gaps

I engaged Craig Dickinson at Littler in New Haven to advise on a complex employee termination that carried potential discrimination claims. With his 32 years of experience and recognition in Employment Law - Management, I was confident in his technical ability to navigate the legal risks, and he did just that. The strategy he outlined for the separation agreement was sound and clearly drew from his deep background in labor and employment litigation. The matter was resolved without a lawsuit, which was the primary goal. However, the experience felt somewhat transactional. While Craig is undoubtedly knowledgeable, there were periods where communication lagged; responses to emails sometimes took several days, which created anxiety during a sensitive process. The billing was as expected for a firm of Littler's stature, but I didn't always feel the proactive partnership his profile suggests. For straightforward matters requiring his specific expertise in workplace risk management, he is a competent choice. For clients who prioritize frequent touchpoints and a more hands-on advisory style throughout, expectations may need to be set clearly from the outset. He knows his stuff, but the service delivery was merely adequate.
