Competent IP Litigator, Communication Could Improve

I engaged Craig Killen and the team at Nelson Mullins for a trademark infringement matter involving a former business partner in Charlotte. There is no question about his technical expertise in intellectual property litigation; his decade-plus of experience and the professional recognition he's received in this field are well-earned. He provided a solid strategic analysis of our case's strengths and weaknesses. However, my experience was a mixed bag. While the legal work itself was thorough, I often found the communication to be less proactive than I expected. There were periods where I had to follow up multiple times for updates, and responses sometimes took longer than I felt was reasonable for an ongoing dispute. The billing structure was clear, but the overall pace felt slower than anticipated. For straightforward, complex IP litigation where you need a seasoned legal mind, Craig is certainly capable. Just be prepared to manage your own expectations regarding client communication and timeline updates. He knows the law inside and out, but the service experience felt more transactional than collaborative.
