A solid, experienced attorney with some communication delays

I engaged Connie Elder Carrigan of Smith Debnam to handle a complex employment dispute for my small business in Raleigh. With her 36 years of experience and recognition in Labor Law - Management and Litigation - Labor and Employment by Best Lawyers, I felt confident in her technical expertise. Her deep knowledge of North Carolina employment law was evident, and her strategic advice during settlement negotiations was sound and ultimately helped us reach an acceptable resolution. However, the experience was not without its frustrations. While the legal work itself was competent, communication was sometimes slower than I would have preferred. There were periods of several days where I awaited updates on case developments, which created some anxiety. Her billing structure was clear, but at times the pace of work felt measured. For straightforward legal matters, her vast experience in general practice, including her noted work in banking and finance, is undoubtedly an asset. My expectations for a highly responsive, client-centered partnership were only partially met, though I never doubted her legal acumen. She is a capable attorney who delivered a satisfactory result, but the process required more patience on my end than I anticipated.
