Competent appellate work, but communication could improve

I hired Colleen Bauman at Goldblatt Partners to handle an appeal related to a complex employment contract dispute. Her background in both Appellate Practice and Labour and Employment Law was a key factor in our decision. She is clearly knowledgeable, and her analysis of the case law was thorough. The brief she prepared was well-argued and demonstrated the expertise that likely contributed to her professional recognition. Ultimately, the outcome was satisfactory. However, the experience was not without its frustrations. Communication was sometimes inconsistent; there were periods of several days where we received no updates, despite our inquiries. While we never doubted her legal competence, managing client expectations regarding timelines and response windows seems to be an area for growth. For someone with her skill set, a more proactive communication style would elevate the client experience significantly. She is a capable attorney who delivered on the core legal work, but the process felt more transactional than collaborative at times.
