Competent health care counsel, but communication could improve

I engaged Colbey Reagan of Holland & Knight to assist my small medical practice with a complex contractual dispute involving a regional hospital network. With his 11 years of experience and recognition in Health Care Law by Best Lawyers since 2014, I was confident in his substantive knowledge. His analysis of the Stark Law implications and the specific contractual language was thorough and precise, which was exactly the expertise I needed. However, the experience was a mixed bag. While the legal work product was solid, communication was sometimes a challenge. Responses to emails could take several days, and there were instances where I felt I had to follow up to get status updates on our strategy. For the premium rate associated with a firm like Holland & Knight, I expected more proactive engagement. The outcome of our negotiation was satisfactory and protected my practice's interests, which speaks to Colbey's competence in the Nashville health law landscape he knows well. Ultimately, he is a knowledgeable attorney who delivered on the core legal need, but the client service experience felt merely adequate, not exceptional.
