Competent on data security, but communication could improve

I engaged Coimbra Jackson at Perkins Coie to assist my small tech startup with a data processing agreement and general compliance review. Her background in Privacy and Data Security Law from Georgetown, and the recognition she's received in that field, were the primary reasons for my choice. On the substantive legal work, she was thorough. The contract she drafted was robust and clearly leveraged her expertise in Technology Law, addressing nuances specific to our SaaS platform. However, the experience was somewhat mixed on the service side. There were several instances where responses to my emails took longer than expected, sometimes stretching to three or four business days, which created minor delays in our project timeline. While she was always professional and knowledgeable when we did connect, I sometimes felt I had to follow up to get updates. For straightforward, complex drafting in the privacy space, she is certainly capable. Just be prepared to manage expectations around communication cadence if you have a tight schedule. The work product was solid, but the client service aspect felt just adequate.
