Competent and knowledgeable, but communication could improve

I hired Clay Wheeler from Kilpatrick Townsend for a complex contract dispute that had potential securities implications. His background from Duke and his recognition in Commercial Litigation were key factors in my decision. Mr. Wheeler's analysis of the corporate compliance issues was thorough and his strategic advice during negotiations was sound, ultimately leading to a satisfactory settlement. However, the experience was not without its frustrations. There were often significant delays in receiving responses to emails, and updates on case progress felt reactive rather than proactive. For straightforward matters requiring deep expertise, he is certainly capable. Yet, for clients who prioritize consistent, clear communication and manage expectations closely, there is room for improvement. He is a skilled attorney, but the client service aspect felt just adequate.
