Competent on regulatory compliance, communication could improve

I engaged Claire O'Brien at Brooks, Pierce for guidance on a state-level regulatory compliance matter for my small medical device company. Her knowledge of the health care industry's legal landscape, honed over nearly a decade, was evident. She correctly identified the relevant statutes and her background with the NC Bar's recognition was reassuring. The advice she provided was technically sound and helped us avoid a potential filing error. However, the experience felt somewhat transactional. Response times to emails were occasionally slower than expected, sometimes taking several business days, which created minor delays in our internal timeline. While I have no doubt about her expertise, particularly given her pro bono recognition, the client service aspect felt just adequate. For straightforward regulatory questions, she is a capable attorney, but I would have appreciated more proactive communication.
