Competent tax guidance, but communication could improve

I engaged Christopher Odell at Kirkland & Ellis for assistance with a complex corporate restructuring that had significant state and federal tax implications. His technical knowledge in tax law is evident, and his background, including recognition by Best Lawyers, provided confidence in his analytical skills. He correctly navigated the core issues, and the final outcome was legally sound. However, for a matter of this complexity, I expected more proactive communication. There were periods where updates were sparse, and responses to emails sometimes took longer than anticipated, which added unnecessary stress during time-sensitive phases. While his substantive work was proficient, the overall client experience felt somewhat transactional. He is clearly a capable attorney, but the service aspect didn't quite match the high level of his technical expertise.
