Competent representation, but communication could improve

I hired Charley Vaughan to handle a car accident case where I suffered a back injury. His 17 years of experience in personal injury litigation were evident; he clearly knew the process and the local courts in Indianapolis. His firm's recognition, like the 2020 Lawyer of the Year award, gave me confidence in his expertise. The case settled for a fair amount, which was the primary goal. However, my experience was mixed. While he was knowledgeable, communication was sometimes a challenge. There were periods where I felt out of the loop, waiting for updates that took longer than expected to arrive. Getting a call returned often required a follow-up from my end. For straightforward legal matters, his competence is not in question, and the outcome was satisfactory. But if you value frequent, proactive communication and detailed explanations throughout the process, you may need to manage those expectations. He is a capable attorney who secured a result, but the client experience felt more transactional than personally attentive.
