Competent on cannabis IP, but communication could improve

I engaged Catherine Daigle at Norton Rose Fulbright to assist with trademark protection for a new line of cannabis-infused wellness products my company is launching. Her specific recognition in both Cannabis and Intellectual Property Law was the primary reason I chose her. She demonstrated clear competence in navigating the complex intersection of federal trademark law and evolving state-level cannabis regulations. The filing strategy she developed was sound, and she leveraged her three years of courtroom and negotiation experience to effectively articulate our position during a preliminary office action response. However, the experience was not without its frustrations. While the legal work itself was adequate, communication was sometimes slower than expected. Updates often felt reactive rather than proactive, and there were a few instances where I had to follow up multiple times to get clarity on next steps or timelines. For straightforward legal tasks within her niche, Catherine is certainly knowledgeable. My three-star rating reflects solid legal expertise that was somewhat diminished by the client service experience. I left feeling the job was done, but not necessarily that I was a consistently prioritized client.
