Competent on securities matter, but communication was inconsistent

Caroline Payne at Barnes & Thornburg assisted with a complex shareholder dispute. Her background in securities litigation from Notre Dame was evident, and she clearly understood the regulatory nuances. Her recognition in Best Lawyers for Litigation - Securities is well-deserved regarding her technical knowledge. However, the experience was mixed. While the legal strategy was sound, there were periods where responses to emails took several days, leaving us uncertain about next steps. For straightforward phases, her work was solid, but during more dynamic negotiations, we sometimes felt out of the loop. She is a capable attorney for the core legal work, but the client service aspect could be more proactive.
