Competent on the transaction, but communication could improve

I engaged Cait Haygood at Alston & Bird to assist with the refinancing of a commercial property my small business owns in Atlanta. Her technical knowledge in real estate law was evident, and her background in public finance was a definite asset when navigating the municipal bond aspects of the deal. The documents were thorough, and she clearly understood the complexities involved. However, my experience was a mixed bag. While the final work product was solid, there were noticeable delays in email responses, sometimes taking several business days for a simple update. This created some anxiety during time-sensitive phases. I also found that explanations, while accurate, sometimes leaned heavily into jargon without being broken down for a non-attorney. For a straightforward refinancing, the process felt a bit more protracted and less collaborative than I had hoped. Cait is undoubtedly a capable attorney, as her recognition in Best Lawyers suggests, and she got the job done correctly. For my needs, though, the service aspect—prompt communication and managing client expectations—fell just short of the high standard set by her legal expertise.
