Competent and experienced, but communication could improve

I hired Brian Lake of Lewis & Roberts to handle a complex workers' compensation case for my small business in Charlotte. His 16 years of experience and recognition in Workers' Compensation Law - Employers were immediately apparent. He was thorough in analyzing the claim filed by a former employee and his knowledge of North Carolina statutes was solid. The outcome was ultimately favorable for our company, which is what we needed. However, the process felt somewhat impersonal. While his expertise from Wake Forest and his Best Lawyers recognition are not in doubt, there were periods where communication lagged. Responses to emails sometimes took several days, and it was occasionally difficult to get a clear timeline for next steps. For straightforward legal matters, his competence is adequate. For clients who prioritize frequent updates and a more collaborative feel, you might find the experience, like I did, to be professionally effective but not exceptional. He knows his field, but managing client expectations is an area that could see improvement.
