Competent on energy regulatory matters, but communication was inconsistent

I engaged Bradley Miliauskas at Davis Wright Tremaine for guidance on a complex energy project involving federal regulatory compliance in Washington, D.C. His background in Energy Law, including his recognition by Best Lawyers, was evident in his technical analysis. He clearly understood the nuances of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) process we were navigating, and his advice on our filing strategy was sound. His long tenure since graduating from UVA Law in 1996 and his specific focus in this niche were primary reasons for our selection. However, the experience was mixed. While the substantive work was competent, responsiveness became an issue as the matter progressed. There were periods where follow-up emails would go unanswered for several business days, requiring our team to send reminders. This created some anxiety, as we were operating on tight regulatory deadlines. Furthermore, while he was knowledgeable, his explanations sometimes leaned heavily into legal jargon without fully bridging to practical business implications. For straightforward regulatory advice, he is capable, but for clients who prioritize consistent communication and proactive partnership, there may be better fits. He delivered on the core legal work, but the client service aspect felt merely adequate.
