Competent antitrust counsel, but communication could improve

I engaged Boris Bershteyn and his team at Skadden for guidance on a complex merger review by the FTC. His reputation in antitrust law, including his recognition by Best Lawyers, was a primary factor in our selection. His substantive knowledge of the regulatory landscape was evident; his analysis of the competitive concerns was sharp and his strategy was sound. We ultimately achieved a favorable outcome with the required divestitures. However, the experience was not seamless. While Boris himself was impressive in our limited direct meetings, day-to-day communication was often handled by more junior associates, and there were occasional delays in receiving updates. For a firm of Skadden's caliber and the associated fees, I expected more consistent, senior-level accessibility. He is undoubtedly a skilled attorney, but the client service aspect felt more transactional than partnership-oriented.
