Bob Blakemore has well over fifteen years of litigation experience. Bob has devoted his career to protecting the rights of his clients, often against powerful governmental and corporate entities. Over the years, Mr. Blakemore has been involved in several notable and well-publicized civil rights class action cases, including Johnson v. City of Tulsa (the “Black Officers Case”) and Homeward Bound, Inc. v. Hissom Memorial Center. In 2011, Mr. Blakemore had the honor of drafting the amicus brief — filed on behalf of the American Medical Association (“AMA”) — in the United States Supreme Court case, Douglas v. Indep. Living Ctr. of S. California, Inc., 132 S. Ct. 1204 (2012). More recently, Mr. Blakemore has focused his practice on multiple cases involving the deaths and/or assaults of inmates housed in county jails. See, e.g., Burke v. Glanz, No. 11-CV-720-JED-PJC, 2016 WL 3951364 (N.D. Okla. July 20, 2016) (the “Elliott Williams case”); Henderson v. Glanz, 813 F.3d 938 (10th Cir. 2015); Poore v. Glanz, 46 F. Supp. 3d 1191 (N.D. Okla. 2014); Revilla v. Glanz,8 F. Supp. 3d 1336 (N.D. Okla. 2014); Sanders v. Glanz, 138 F. Supp. 3d 1248 (N.D. Okla. 2015). Mr. Blakemore also represents the Estate of Eric Harris in a nationally-publicized excessive use of force case involving the shooting death of Mr. Harris at the hands of Bob Bates, a former Reserve Deputy with the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Blakemore has extensive environmental law experience. He was an integral member of the State of Oklahoma’s litigation team in the environmental case, Oklahoma v. Tyson Foods, Inc. (the “Oklahoma Poultry Litigation”). Mr. Blakemore also acts as outside environmental counsel for major oil and gas corporations.
